「回顧香港經過的歲月，我想起香港電台拍攝的劇集《獅子山下》，其中主題曲講到港人走過的路，是歡笑多，還是唏噓多？二次大戰結束到現在的七十年裏，港人嘗過的艱苦日子數之不盡，但歡笑的時刻也是有的。……要明白港人的唏噓和歡笑，首先得回到港人當時所處的環境。在這書裏，我希望透過這個懷舊旅程，重新的把港人走過的路，如實的顯現在港人面前，雖然只是吉光片羽，個人的感受也難有什麼微言大義，但只要是港人的真實故事，箇中必有你和我的苦與樂。」
